What's New in the Studio
What a great event and so happy to meet so many new friends! We really enjoyed the festival and especially the other artists. Five days of fun in the dome, and back to the studio today. The Mt. Rainier postcards were a big hit. It was a lot of fun handing them out and hearing whom they would be sent to and where. It sounds like "Karla Rae Studios" is now a world wide business :) Thank you to all of my faithful clients that made the treck to and through the dome to find me, and also to the new ones we met this week. I will be re-grouping and resting a little this week, and then we have the "Mukilteo Holiday Art Mart" on November 6th. Hope to see you there!!! Blessings, Karla Rae
What a great weekend! Thanks to all of you who came out to say hello and who found their latest treasure. I really enjoyed seeing so many friends and regular clients, even though the weather was a bit cool on Sunday. It was a wonderful weekend for me and I was happy to get such a great response to the new Boxed Cards! Thanks a bunch. A huge thanks also to my wonderful husband who carried all those bins and did my set-up and pack-up too!!! I am blessed :)
The next big show is the "Holiday Gift Festival" in the Tacoma Dome. It runs Oct. 20th through the 24th, 10am to 9pm. I have a number of gift items that are just perfect for those special people in your life. I hope to get some photos up soon. Be happy today, and celebrate life!
A big thank you to all of you who made it to the Waterfront festival. I had a great time seeing you, and it was a very successful show for me. It appears that we are over the economic blues, and back to treating ourselves to some new artwork. I was thrilled with the quality and variety of art at the show, and even bought a few things for myself :)
This month of August I am busy in the studio filling current orders, and preparing for the upcoming Lighthouse Festival. I have been working on some soft blue, yellow and green paintings of water and lilies. Should have them ready by early September. Enjoy these sunny summer days; hope to see you soon, Karla
Hello Art Fans!
We have many exciting events happening this month. First, we have just moved to a beautiful new home in Mukilteo, and I am enjoying setting up my studio. We can see our wonderful ferries and the olympics from most rooms, and the sunsets of course! Second, My solo show at the Red Cup in Mukilteo opens today. Stop by to see some of my latest beach paintings, and enjoy a yummy pastry and a delicious cup of coffee. Also, I am working on my final preparations for the Waterfront Art Festival, this July 17th. I just got my final packet for the show and it looks like a lot of fun. They are offering free kids activities, free admission and free parking, and have a number of premier Northwest Artists showing their work. Stop by to get your "My Mukilteo Print" and say hello.
Hope you can all make it to the Schack Art Center , this Saturday June 5th from 9-3. I have spoken to several artist friends, and we are all marking things way down. Stop by to say hello - see you there. The address is 2921 Hoyt Ave. in Everett.
Hello and Welcome! This is a new challenge for me, so thanks for your patience in advance. My understanding of "blogging" is limited, but my love of art and conversation should provide lots of inspiration. Those of you who know me are giggling about the conversation remark and I can hear you :)
Let's start with studio news! One of the reasons I paint is my appreciation for the beauty that God has created around us. Spending an hour watching the colors change in a pink and lavender sunset is on of my favorite Friday night activities. It has always been a goal of mine to produce lovely images that bless and inspire, and are also affordable. Everyone should be able to own a painting that makes them smile everyday, in their own home and so I paint. Let me know what you think of my work (please be gentle); feel free to ask questions; and if there is something special you are looking for, just give me a call.
What's happening?: I am so very excited about this years upcoming shows & events!
16th Annual ARTIST'S GARAGE SALE, June 5th 9-3 at the Schack Art Center, 2921 Hoyt Ave., Everett WA 98203
Time to clean house! I've just recieved my set-up letter and there will be almost 100 artists at the Schack center selling: paintings, watercolors, jewelry, sculpture, glass, pottery, . . . . . This is where I do my holiday gift shopping, and get the studio ready for the summer season. I have a large supply of wonderful prints, framed and matted pieces, and a few canvases that will be marked way down. They are all great, just have too many new things, and I need the space.
Mukilteo Waterfront Art Festival - July 17th, 11am-7pm
at Lighthouse park along the waterfront, Mukilteo WA 98275
I have been busy painting through the winter and spring, and have several new paintings that I just love. "My Mukilteo" was chosen for the poster image for this festival coming up in July. I have been wanting to paint our waterfront for several years, and this was just a great opportunity for me. The festival is sponsored by the Mukilteo Arts Guild, so it's all about the art and is a quality event. It's a great family festival with free activities for the kids, (last year they had watercolor painting and cool prizes) lots of yummy food, and some of the northwest's best artists. Take a minute to stop by to say hello, I believe my booth number will be #22.
Thanks for taking a look at the blog :)
I also have several local solo artist shows coming up, which I will update on the site. The biggest event for me this year is the TACOMA HOLIDAY GIFT FESTIVAL in the Tacoma Dome. Did you hear the echo? It's five days long, Oct. 20th through the 24th, and is open from 10am till 8pm, every day:) They will have over 1200 booths filled with art and gifts. This is going to be HUGE!!!!! Hope to see you there.
